"Bringing the City together with the Country"

City Streets, Country Roads is to provide an educational setting for fair patrons to see and learn about the different types of animals that are raised on farms and what their purposes are. A visit to City Streets, Country Roads might mean the first time a youngster has gotten close to a farm animal.

Numerous special activities are planned throughout the week including agricultural-related storybook read alongs; farm-related sing-alongs with an appearance by Frederick Cable 10's Troubadour and appearances by Bunny Burkett, well-known race car driver.
Scarecrow Making will be featured from 11a.m.-3p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 20, to the first 250 youngsters at
Building 32.

Pumpkins from Scratch will
also be featured at the exhibit.

Before the end of school, this past spring, Frederick County's 2000 second grade students were each given three pumpkin seeds in an envelop with planting and care instructions printed on the front. The youngsters are to bring their pumpkins to the fair this fall and display them at City Streets, Country Roads.
A handmade quilt featuring City Streets, Country Roads logo and that of eight other county agricultural organizations is being made for a fundraising activity for the exhibit by the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren. Several of the quilters will be working on the project for the public to see in the Household Building.
The quilt will be awarded at the 1998 Great Frederick Fair.

Five Thousand coloring/activity books will be handed out during the week as well as special 12-inch rulers.
