City
Streets, Country Roads, a national award winning agricultural education
awareness exhibit, is featured at The Great Frederick Fair as a free educational exhibit.
With the ever changing structure of Frederick County, fair officials believe the exhibit
is a much needed educational feature at the fair.
The exhibit's name, City Streets, Country Roads, was selected because
it's a way to bring the city together with the country. Live animals displays range Brown
Swiss oxen, sheep and horses. Some diverified livestock are also on display including
Scottish Highlander, emus and llamas. All of the animals in the exhibit are provided by
area residents who volunteer their time and animals.
Numerous activities are featured in the exhibit throughout the week
including farm-related storybook read alongs; Kids Growing With Grains; and appearances by
Bunny Burkett, well-known race car driver.
Scarecrow Making will be featured from 11 am - 3 pm, Saturday, Sept. 26, to the
first 250 youngsters at Building 32.
Also available from the exhibit is the distribution of 7,000
coloring/activity books, rulers, stickers, and crayons made from soybeans.
