FARM FAMILY OF THE YEAR APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED
FREDERICK, MD- The 24th annual Frederick County Farm Family of the Year will be named at this year’s Great Frederick Fair in conjunction with the crowning of the Frederick County 4-H Royalty on Friday, Sept. 17, at the grandstand.
Local farm families are invited to submit an application for the Farm Family of the Year honor. Applications, due by July 15, are available at the fair office or at the fair’s website at www.thegreatfrederickfair.com, or call 301-663-5895 to have an application mailed to you. Area civic clubs and organizations such as the Lions, Rotary, Farm Bureau, Grange and Ruritans are also invited to nominate a family for this top award.
The Farm Family Contest winner will be awarded at the intermission of the 4-H King/Queen contest. The contest starts at 7 p.m. at the grandstand and is open and free to the public.
The Farm Family of the Year Award recognizes outstanding farm business achievement in proficiency of production, agricultural/civic organization involvement, conservation and preservation of soil, water and energy.
The 2004 Farm Family of the Year winner will be showcased at the 142nd Great Frederick Fair and other agricultural events during the coming year. The Farm Family of the Year will represent Frederick County as agricultural ambassadors. All contestants competing for the award will be showcased in a special display during fair week. The award winner will be honored on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 during The Great Frederick Fair’s Agriculture Day luncheon at the fair’s Administration Office.
