As a young child, J. Kenneth Kefauver was always very interested in The Great Frederick Fair. He became a member of the Frederick County Agricultural Society in the 1960s and was elected to the Board of Managers in 1975. He served as president of the Board of Managers in 1986-87. He retired from the board in 1987.
As a child, Mr. Kefauver recalls always enjoying the fair, and was very interested in the operation of it. He joined the board to help improve the fair and preserve its traditions. Although he no longer actively involved in the operation of the fair, he still enjoys attending the grandstand events and walking through the Machinery Row exhibit.
Until his retirement, Mr. Kefauver worked as a civilian contracting officer at Fort Detrick.
