Country, classic rock, Christian artists to headline GFF grandstand entertainment

Country music artist Gary Allan will kick off the grandstand entertainment at The Great Frederick Fair in September.
Allan, whose hits include “Watching Airplanes,” “Life Ain’t Always Beautiful” and “Nothing On but the Radio,” takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14.
The classic rock show will feature John Kay & Steppenwolf (“Born to Be Wild,” “Magic Carpet Ride” and “Rock Me”) at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15; and new country artist Brett Young (“In Case You Didn’t Know,” “Sleep Without You” and “Like I Loved You”) and Riley Green, who was the winner of CMT’s “Redneck Island” Season 5, will take the stage Sept. 16.
The tractor and truck pull starts at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17; and two nights of demolition derby starts with the cars on Sept. 18 and trucks, vans and figure eight on Sept. 19, both at 7 p.m.
“American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery performs at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20. His hits include “See You Tonight,” “The Trouble With Girls,” “I Love You This Big,” and his recent single “Five More Minutes.”
Ventriloquist Darci Lynne, the youngest contestant to ever win “America’s Got Talent,” will present a family show at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21.
Closing out the week will be Christian artists Matthew West (“Hello, My Name Is,” “Strong Enough” and “Grace Wins”) with Jordan Feliz (“The River,” “Beloved” and “Best of Me”).
Tickets are $25 grandstand annex, $40 grandstand and $45 track for Gary Allan, John Kay & Steppenwolf, Brett Young and Riley Green, Scotty McCreery and Darci Lynne. Tickets are $25, $35 and $40 for Matthew West and Jordan Feliz.
Track seating returns for every concert this year. For the Gary Allan and Brett Young shows, half of the track will be available for standing-room-only and one-half seats.
Tickets go on sale to the public, online only, at 8 a.m. May 5 at www.thegreatfrederickfair.com. Box-office hours will be announced at a later date.
The Great Frederick Fair runs Sept. 14-22. The theme is “Moooving Forward: Fun for the Whole Herd.”
