Eddie Mercer Agri-Services Vintage Art Contest at The Great Frederick Fair

Posted on:

Frederick, MD – August 28, 2017 Every year, the Eddie Mercer Agri-Services Vintage Art contest brings together local artisans who are partnered with a local business sponsor and then the artwork is displayed in Downtown Frederick merchant storefronts for the month leading up to the Fair.  The artwork will then return to the Fair to be auctioned off to the highest bidder and proceeds will help support Agricultural Education programs.

Artist’s designs, placed on Tin Stars (this year’s medium) incorporate the 2017 Great Frederick Fair theme, Fair of Dreams and the sponsor’s logos.  Go to The Great Frederick Fair’s Facebook page to cast your vote for your favorite Star. Cash prizes will be awarded to 3 artists for favorite, most “liked” stars.  Please take time to walk thru Downtown Frederick to view the Fair of Dreams Stars. Frederick County Economic Development will judge the window displays and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 downtown Merchants.

The Tin Stars will then return to The Great Frederick Fair for viewing on Saturday September 16th and be auctioned off to the public Sunday, September 17th at 3:00pm in Building 18. Proceeds of the art auction will be used to fund Agricultural Education Programs at The Great Frederick Fair and in FCPS classrooms as part of their Ag in the Classroom curriculum.
