James S. Grimes
James S. Grimes had a life-long dream to become a member of the Frederick County Agricultural Society Inc. and The Great Frederick Fair Inc. board, a dream that came true in 1983. He served his first term as president in 1992 and 1993, and again from 2010 to 2012, including the fair’s 150th anniversary year in 2012.
As a youngster, Grimes looked up to members of the Frederick County Agricultural Society Inc. In the 1960s he became a member himself. An avid fair-goer all his life, Grimes joined the society to ensure that the objective to always strive to improve the fair was fulfilled. He wanted to be sure that every fair-goer got what they came for at the fair – education about Frederick County agriculture and to have a good time.
Grimes still has an active role serving as chair of the Entertainment and Safety/Parking/Security/Gate Operations committees, and is also a member of the Finance, Budget & Audit committees.
